I Swear, I'm Not Abandoning dA

Ok, like my title says, I haven't forgotten dA. I do check back every now and then. I just haven't been productive at all. At least, in my sense of being productive.
I feel I'm only good at one thing: drawing costume designs.
I can draw realism. I've been doing that this past whole semester (I took Drawing II, which focuses on drawing the human form). It's just so boring and constrictive to me. Then, I took this "Issues and Images of Contemporary Art" class where, literally, the only thing we got graded on was a sketchbook we turned in at the end of the semester. It had no boundaries, meaning we could draw whatever we wanted. This was the only comment I got I picked up my sketchbook (which was essentially filled with anime drawings of my characters and various costume designs): good effort but predictable.
What the fuck kind of comment/critique is that!?!? I had two professors for that course, where we watched movies most of the time, and neither of them could take the time to write me more than one phrase (not even an entire sentence) of criticism. Yeah, that's real helpful.
But, on the other hand, I've gotten a lot of encouragement from my costume design professor (who is also my advisor). She wants me to be the assistant costume designer with her for the first mainstage production of the fall semester!!!
I'm excited! =D It's going to be a great learning experience, and I love my professor, so it'll be awesome.
I dunno. There's so many things I want to do. I really need to work hard this summer. Get things done for once. Argh! I need to get working!!!

Nothing Interesting (I'm So Lame)

There really hasn't been too many interesting events in my life recently.
I was finished with exams on the 17th, and I've been working a lot ever since. ^^; Yeah, I'm lame. Either I'm going to school or working. And in my off time, I just sit around like a lazy person. Which I am. :)
I have a lot of drawings that I've scanned over the last few days. They're from various times in the past couple years. I have a lot of unfinished drawings that I'll be finishing up sometime in the future, so expect those.
Hopefully I can find my camera cable soon so I can upload pictures of my Time Man [link] costume. I have some pictures from when I wore it at AWA, but they're not very clear and aren't full-body shots.
Well, time for me to go back to my lair. :B Have a good life!

Making A Reappearance

It was about this time last year that I posted my last journal. I honestly didn't mean to neglect my deviantART page (and social life), but I've been a bit busy. I know that's a lame excuse, but hear me out.
It all started... well, before school started last year. I was thinking about taking a step into the dating world. I had recently discovered Craigslist and had been looking at the personal ads for my area. (Yes, I was looking at personals.)
Anyway, I replied to an ad on August 16th from a 22-year-old young man who was a computer geek and a video game nerd.
It seemed promising to me, so I emailed him. He added me on MySpace and we talked on messenger a couple times. Then, on August 21st, I moved into my dorm room. I met Tom on August 28th at the City Market downtown. He was working at one of the tables, selling his brother's artwork. We talked for couple hours, and I offered to let him spend the night in my dorm so we could hang out more. After he was done working the market, I met him again and walked him to my dorm. We watched Anchorman. And, basically, that is how I met the love of my life.
Now, I'm not saying that my having a boyfriend is what prevented me from drawing/keeping up with my dA page. C'mon, you didn't even let me finish my story. A lot of stuff happened.
Tom had been living with his brother and sister-in-law because he had just moved here from Chicago. He worked with his brother in the art studio and, of course, worked the market for him. I went over to their house and met them. Tom told his sis-in-law that I babysit, so she asked me to babysit her three kids whenever I had free time from school. So, I ended up going there frequently. It was fun.
Now, here comes the more interesting part. On our two month anniversary, Tom gave me a necklace he had carved from a branch from a palmetto tree (that's what his brother uses for his art). We then went down to the beach that night (which was, literally, a five-minute walk), and Tom told me he had something to tell me, but he was afraid of how I'd react. He told me that he was married. He moved to the South because his wife cheated on him, and they were separated and working on getting a divorce. He apologized profusely for keeping it from me and told me he loved me and didn't know how he'd live without me. It was a little overwhelming, but that's when I realized that I loved Tom.
I went to Chicago with Tom for Christmas. We had been dating for about three and a half months. And my mom bought us the plane tickets. That was surprisingly awesome.
Basically, his entire family loved me. I think a lot of it was comparison: they thought I was a million times better than his soon-to-be-ex. His mom even mentioned something about grandchildren.
After the trip, I started school again. Tom lived with my sister and brother-in-law for a half a month until he moved into his new apartment downtown. We got to witness the deterioration of my sister's marriage. She and her husband are now separated and going to get a divorce.
I essentially moved in with Tom, even though I still technically lived in the dorms. Then, for the summer, I've been living with Tom's brother and sister-in-law as a nanny (the kids love me). But I'm officially living with Tom this school year. I'm not hiding it from my parents anymore. Pretty soon, we're going to file Tom's divorce papers. We're going to have to take another trip to Chicago for that.
So, that's been my life so far. There's some other interesting things, like my sister dating our roommate and other drama that usually surrounds a divorce. But I don't need to ramble anymore. I'll post more artworks eventually. See you around! =D

It's About Time...

  • Watching: Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Eating: home cooking!
  • Drinking: lots o' water!
It's about time I update here!
Yeah, I've been being lazy about posting stuff and stuff... =D
But! I have pretty pics to post so I'm happy and junk.
What's that? You wanna know about my life? Aw, you're so sweet. :aww:
Well, I'm moving into my dorm on the 18th. And it will be awesome because my roomie says she's a nerd and I like nerds and it will be fun. ^____^
Oh, and I'm an aunt x2 now... My sister is preggers! Again! Yeah, those kids, having babies all the time... ha ha ha...
That reminds me of a quote from The Simpsons... Homer says to Apu, "Apu, you don't try to have babies. Babies just happen."
So true, so true...
Anyway, not much else is happening. I'm still sewing costumes like a crazy person. Last night I finished a costume with ~Riddles-In-the-Dark. We stayed up all night. Much caffeine was consumed.
In conclusion, I'm excited about going back to school, and I plan on having many fun times ahead. :boogie:

P.S. I've been wanting to use this emoticon for a long time... :shakefist: :shakefist: :shakefist: :shakefist: :iconshakefish: :shakefist: :shakefist: :shakefist: :shakefist:

Yes, that is a very vague 8-bit reference. =D It totally plays a role in my rambling journal.
Well, I'm not in my good ol' hometown (the one with the bridge that was hit by a crane on a barge) anymore. I'm spending the summer with my sexy friend, ~Riddles-In-the-Dark in Clemson. =D I got here on Monday. She's taking summer courses... hard stuff, too. Organic chemistry... um, another science thing... and another, I think? She's a stupid (read: smart) biology major. Which makes me glad I'm a smart (read: stupid) art major. ;P
I think these hard courses and my pestering may convert her to an art major, though. (She said her mom would just love that!)
Anyway, we're having fun. :aww: Interesting things are occurring already! We had firemen in our house at midnight last night!
Okay, explanation time. When I got here, we were already in the process of fixing the air conditioner and replacing the water heater. The a/c guy came twice, once to replace freon and again to actually fix the a/c (he said he didn't realize it was so bad at first). The water heater guy came between those two visits.
Then last night, we were watching movies and noticed something above the kitchen sink... the ceiling was sagging. And dripping water (luckily, into the sink). So, that meant that there was a leak from the apartment above us. Which no one is living in right now.
So, ~Riddles-In-the-Dark had to call around, trying to find who would be able to shut off the water to that apartment so that the ceiling wouldn't suddenly fall on our heads. While she was doing that, I poked a hole in the ceiling. To let the water drain. :aww: (I told Riddles that I did it because I imagined it was something my dad would do. She said my dad would be proud.)
This apartment complex is retarded the way it's set up. A main company owns the complex. Then individuals own each separate apartment. Then people rent from those individuals. So, it's kind of a hassle to figure out who's responsible for the leaking. The owner of our apartment suggested we call the fire department. We did and she also called them. I think she told them that we had seen wires sparking in the walls. ^^;
So the fire guys came and hung out with us for a while. And cut bigger holes in the ceiling. And they figured out who to call to cut off the water. And told us we should have a midnight breakfast with them at the fire station. :XD: And told us about other funny calls they had (which made us feel not-as-bad for calling the fire department about a water problem, lawlz).
So, if this is the start of our summer, what other interesting things are afoot? :giggle: Oh, and the hills... Clemson has hills. And we're writing 8-bit quotes on post-its and putting them on the walls. =D
Something else interesting: I may be making a load of money illustrating a book for my uncle. ^____^ But I'll talk about that later. This journal is long enough.
Have fun with summer fun!~
